Our commitment to the environment.
Wild deforestation in tropical regions has given rise to some confusion and misconceptions concerning our European forests, which continue to grow and are therefore not in any danger.
Moreover, the felling of trees is vital if we want to ensure the renewal of forests – because young shoots need space to grow. Some of the older trees in our forests consume too many mineral elements from the soil, hide the light and thus prevent young shoots from developing. Using wood is good for our forests! Our national authorities oversee the sustainable management of forests by determining which trees can be felled each year. These trees are selected in compliance with a wide range of regulations on the protection of biodiversity, soil and waters, protection of rare species, ageing islands, guaranteeing sustainable management, etc.
A renewable, sustainable and natural resource
Based on sustainable forestry management, the wood used to manufacture parquet flooring is a 100% renewable and sustainable resource, unlike exhaustible resources such as crude oil and cement, which are used in other floor coverings (concrete, tiles, carpet, vinyl, etc.).
Wood is a natural resource as it is the only material that is produced using solar energy. It stores CO2 and its installation requires very little energy. Choosing parquet flooring therefore helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Parquet flooring provides insulation:
Compared to other materials, the insulating properties of wood are considerably greater, which makes it possible to reduce energy consumption.
The PEFC programme
PEFC certification guarantees that the trees used to manufacture our parquet floors come from sustainably managed forests.
